Dr. Guohua Zhang (张国华or 張國華) is associate professor of English with the School of Foreign Studies of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law(ZUEL), which he joined in 2012.He isdean of the Department of English Language and Literature, coordinator of the Major of English of the School and deputy director of the Center for Supervising MAPostgraduatesofForeign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. He teaches and supervises regular undergraduates as majors of English or Translation, as well as postgraduates majoring in linguistics and Masters of Translation and Interpretation (MTI). He is known or cited as Guohua (Robert) Zhang more often out of China PR.
He is an anonymous reviewer of Cognitive LinguisticsandJournal of Teaching in International Business, a correspondent reviewer with China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center(CDGDC) under China’s Ministry of Education, director of China Association for the Philosophy of Language under China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese (CACSEC) and National Social Science Fund Project Appraiserappointed by National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciencesunder the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China.

His research interests:
Dr. Guohua Zhanghas wide research interests in topics and areas related to comparison or contrast of syntactic constructions in English and Chinese, theoretically based on Cognitive Linguistics and Construction Grammar (CxG). His research focuses on ditransitive constructions especially in the two languages approached or contrasted interlingually and intralingually, diachronically and synchronically, formally and semantically. Recently he focuses his research on relation between modes of thinking and language use, syntax in particular, with an effort to reveal how national patterns of thinking shapes organized patterns of language structure and linguistic behaviors, and, conversely, how syntactic structures in particular reflect or embody national thinking modes. Other types of structures or constructions such as lexical and morphological ones attract his attention as well.
Dr. Guohua Zhangis also a passionate translator. He translates some academic monographs on language, translation, literature, psychology and culture and other related topics that interest him, between English and Chinese. He has lasting interests in, and reads extensively on, literature on historical linguistics, linguistic philosophy, social linguistics, pragmatics, cognitive translation theory and practice, history of English grammar teaching, history of linguistics, history of grammatical studies, linguistic psychology, linguistic typology, anthropological linguistics, cultural linguistics, corpus linguistics and critical discourse analysis.
He has been invited to chair Master-degree thesis defense meetings of postgraduates from many other universities in Chinese mainland in the past years. In addition, he acted as a blind-reviewer of Master-degree thesis and translation reports of MTI from other universities in the past, including Shanghai International Studies University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Yangtze University, Three Gorges University, Huazhong Agricultural University, Nanchang University, Shandong University of Finance and Economics, Ningbo University, Zhejiang Normal University, Zhejiang Technology and Business University, among others.

Since 2001 till 2010, as a major member of research groups, Dr. Guohua Zhang had participated infive research projects at the national and Provincial/Ministerial levels, along with two other projects funded by the university or school he served, respectively.
