诸多研究表明,策略运用对第二语言阅读起着重要作用。最近的研究还表明,这些策略运用的效果并非独立存在,而是很大程度受二语水平的干扰。然究竟二语水平对策略运用效应如何干扰,面对大量各类证据域内学者仍莫衷一是。本次演讲将回顾相关文献,并据此假设三种类型的二语水平对策略运用的调节模式:一次 直线调节模式(即策略运用对阅读表现的效应随二语水平的增加而同时增加),二次曲线调节模式(即策略运用只有在二语水平处于中级时才对阅读有显著效应),以及三次曲线调节模式(即策略使用对阅读的效应随着二语水平的增加上下波动)。研究数据来自全国八所医学院校的1491名护理专业二年级学生。数据用以下三个工具收集:英语语法测验(测二语水平),医学英语阅读测验(测二语阅读水平) 和策略效应自评问卷。学生反应的原始数据先经由多维项目反应理论模型(MIRT)进行效度验证和评分然后运用多层潜变量调节分析模型(MLMA)处理。结果表明三次曲线调节模型为适配度最佳模型。用图形表示出来,该三次曲线模型具有岛脊曲线(IRC)的形状。实质上讲,这意味着策略使用对二语阅读的影响随着二语水平的增长而波动:对于二语水平极低的学生,策略使用对阅读是有害的;随着二语水平逐渐提高,这种有害作用逐渐降低并消除;当二语达到中级水平时,策略实用效应转为积极并不断增强;当二语水平达到高级水平时,策略实用仍然有益,不过这种有益作用会随二语水平的继续增加而逐渐减弱。
专家简介(英文):
Yuyang CAI is currently a research fellow at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at The Education University of Hong Kong. He obtained his PhD in language testing and assessment and has been interested in investigating the role of linguistic factors, thinking skills, and disciplinary knowledge in first and second language performance. He is also interested in applying various analytical models (e.g., generalizability theory, item response theory, and structural equation modeling) to his research. His publications appear in international journals such as Language Assessment Quarterly, Nurse Education Today, Educational Psychology, among others. Besides, Yuyang had rich experience in developing language tests. He was the chief designer of a national test of English for Specific Purposes in China and had acted as a key member in a research team developing English for Academic Purposes in Hong Kong.
